The KCFOP represents the majority of the sworn law enforcement officers working for the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department. Providing police services to an estimated 441,000 citizens within a 318 square miles region spanning an area within the four counties of Jackson, Platte, Clay, and Cass.

The Missouri Fraternal Order of Police represents more law enforcement professionals than any other organization in Missouri. and for good reason. The FOP has the best record in the state in representing police officers.

When you join the KCFOP you join an organization of "cops representing cops" working in your behalf. The KCFOP has a staff of attorneys whose job is to represent you and your fellow members. In an emergency, they're as close as a single phone call.

It just makes sense to join the KCFOP. The KCFOP and the Missouri FOP help write the laws and support legislation that protects law enforcement professionals in Kansas City and throughout the state. We work to help make sure those laws are enforced for you.

The KCFOP also provides the National FOP Legal Defense Plan to all of it's sworn members as a benefit of membership in the Lodge.

The KCFOP Legal Defense Plan attorneys are available 24 hours a day for covered emergencies and critical incidents.

Attorneys are available under applicable Plan coverage when you experience critical incident investigations involving use-of-force incidents, high speed pursuits, vehiculars, or other covered disciplinary and work related matters.

Legislation

The KCFOP and Missouri State FOP knows and understands Jefferson City better than any other union representing law enforcement.

We help to draft the laws that currently protect your rights as law enforcement professionals, and we are committed to protecting those rights and strengthening them today and in the future.

The KCFOP maintains a constant dialogue with state officials, legislators, and city government to express our concerns over issues affecting your rights and the quality of police service provided to our community.

We have retirees and an attorney who have expressed an interest in working on our behalf. They know the Kansas City Police Department and realize our Department’s good points as well as those which need changing. As non-Department Members they are not hindered by the same questions regarding supposed restrictions on political endorsements and campaign contributions that those who would like us to not have the opportunity to speak in our behalf would impose upon us. This is why the the Friends of the KCFOP was formed in our behalf. We are fortunate to have these friends who can speak honestly with elected officials about our membership's needs without fear of retaliation.
